Today, while posting obits to the Lyman Township Cemetery Blog, I came across the obituary for Joseph Nelson McNeil. Joseph was born in Adams County, Ohio in 1839 per the obit. A coincidence that Eli McNeil's father, William Kirkpatrick McNeil, was also born in Adams County, Ohio? Maybe a connection for the McNeil side. The obit also describes family in the Dakotas, I believe Hattie and Eli lived in South Dakota at some time during the marriage. Does anyone know this McNeil connection? Email me at
