Joseph Arnold ???

My "scrapbook identification information" photo is so blurry it is hard to read.  I do remember that this notation said "Amos Arnold's grandfather, died at ?  Joseph."
Although I do not think this is Joseph Arnold, grandfather of Amos S. Arnold.  Joseph died in 1852.  Early in the history of photography and "cabinet sized" photos.
More research needed here.

I see David Johnson, Joseph Arnold, Stukely Arnold and a lot of Lobdells.  Also the neighbors:  Stickles, Rosmans, Weavers. Some buried in the little cemetery we visited in 1996 on Irish Settlement Road.  If you follow the above link, you can get to the map where you can really zoom in and read all the names.
 

 

I put a link to the New York Letters page to the top right.  Mrs. Rosman's funeral is discussed and Carrie Weaver's new hat is mentioned.  These are transcribed letters between Lora Johnson Arnold and her sisters that remained in the Clinton County, New York area. Interesting reading.

Great Grandfather Arnold Mystery

The back of the photo is written Great Grandfather Arnold 1843.  So who is this?  Father of Amos??
So the father of Amos is Stukley B. Arnold.  1801 to 1879. 
The grandfather of Amos is Joseph Stukeley Arnold.  1774 to 1852.
If the photo was taken in 1843, the father would be 42 in the photo, and if it is the grandfather of Amos he would be 69 in the photo.  So does this person look 42 or 69? 
So if it is Joseph Stukeley Arnold that would be Amos' grandfather and Seba, Seward, Hattie, Johnson, etc's great grandfather.  It might be  . . . Joseph Stukeley Arnold 1774-1852.  How will we ever find out?
