McNeil Yaw Connection

While organizing my family files today, I found this small note.  Looks like Grandma Mildred Arnold's handwriting.
Merlene McNeil married Donald Coulom. So Don's mother was a Yaw, her father being a Yaw of Onarga.
Interesting as the Robbins line also ties in with the Yaws.  I believe Benjamin and Cynthia Robbin's daughter, Cynthia, married Henry Yaw.  They are buried in the Onarga Cemetery.

Artesia Township 1904 and the Robbins Family

Edwin G. S. Robbins, R. S. Perkinson, Henry Veatch, C. W. Sprague, J. E. Day.  All familiar names in the Robbins research.

Lake Shore School

I got these images last week from cousin Gene Arnold.  The Lake Shore School was located northwest of Roberts, and four of my Grandpa, Ernest Arnold's, brothers are listed on the student page.

Did you know?

Did you know that Grandma Arnold had two brothers?  Edwin Elliot Robbins and Wilbur Dwight Robbins.

Edwin died when he was five years old of pneumonia at this home near Thawville, Illinois.  He was the third oldest child of Halsey and Stella (Day) Robbins.
Edwin Elliot Robbins. (I am not completely sure of the spelling of his middle name.  I see it sometimes with one "t" and sometimes with two.)
From L to R.  Edwin, Grandma Mildred, Mary Alice "Aunt Alice" and Grandma holding her brother Wilbur.

Edwin is buried in Ridgeland Township Cemetery near Thawville, Illinois.  He died March 25, 1915.  They have spelled his name incorrectly in the first obit posted here.

Wilbur Dwight Robbins is the fourth oldest in the family.  He too is buried in Ridgeland Township Cemetery.  Wilbur was born October 7, 1913, and died July 15, 1979 at the Veteran's Home in Quincy, Illinois.  Wilbur was a veteran of WW II.  Someone has handwritten in the family records his cause of death as "chocking."
He never married and corresponded by mail regularly with Grandma Arnold.  I have a lot of his letters to her.  I need to find his occupation and where he lived prior to the veteran's home.  I'll check with Mom.
